Growing up on the West Coast of the South Island, Taye enjoyed exploring the trails of his daily surroundings, those he now calls one of the most beautiful places in the world. Currently based in Rolleston, Christchurch, he finds solace in long, meditative runs, drawn by the purity and tranquillity of trail running.
The Turning Point
Since 2005, Taye has dedicated himself to serving with the New Zealand Police, finding running to be a crucial way to clear his head and put life's challenges into perspective. His journey into competitive running began with the Arrowsmith Marathon in 2013, a turning point that ignited a passion for events. Taye has since embraced the challenges of trail running, with the Mt Oxford Odyssey standing out as a favourite for its demanding course and community spirit.
Perseverence and Passion
In recent years, Taye embarked on the intense Godzone adventure race and remains committed to participating in challenging events such as the Northburn 100-miler. As a La Sportiva ambassador, Taye embodies the ethos of perseverance and passion in the trail running community. His aspirations continue to grow, dreaming of competing in legendary races like the Western States, Hardrock, and UTMB, reflecting his belief that the possibilities in the sport are endless.
