From the rolling hills of the UK to the untamed beauty of New Zealand’s West Coast, Emma’s journey is threaded with curiosity, resilience and a deep love for the natural world. Now based in Reefton, she traces her love of running back to childhood cross-country races— a sport that captured her heart not for speed, but for the joy of getting muddy and being immersed in nature.
Uncharted Paths
For Emma, running is not about clocking miles. It is about fun, exploration and pushing the limits of both mind and body. That spirit led her on an unforgettable odyssey: cycling from Manchester to the Dolomites with all her climbing and camping gear, spending months living under the stars and chasing adventure on foot and by bike.
In racing and training, Emma carries gratitude as her compass. After overcoming years of injury, she chooses to focus on what she can do, cherishing every opportunity to train and compete and never taking the chance to race for granted
Great achievements make great stories
As a holder of multiple Guinness World Records, a winner of various long distance trail running events, the first female to run across Africa, the fastest female to complete the Australian Alpine Walking Track on foot, and the writer, illustrator and publisher of her own children’s book, Emma has not only built an impressive list of achievements, but gathered remarkable stories along the way. As a keynote speaker and ultra running coach, she eagerly shares her adventures, knowledge, energy and love for the outdoors with those ready to elevate their own journey.
