Born and raised in Christchurch, Charlotte first found her competitive edge on the road and track cycling circuit before swapping the bike for running shoes while studying in Dunedin. What began as a quick escape into the hills between university lectures soon grew into something much bigger: a love for the trails that has taken her across the globe and now onto the world stage.
Chasing Horizons
After several years living between Canada and Australia — balancing remote nursing contracts with skiing, mountain biking and alpine adventures — Charlotte returned home to Aotearoa to focus on trail running. Her persistence has paid off she has been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2025 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Canfranc Pirineos, Spain, tackling a gruelling 44km course with 3600m of elevation gain. Alongside this, she has claimed victories at Cable Bay 34km and Mt Difficulty 44km Ascent, backing up a podium finish at the NZ Short Course Trail Champs.
Balance and Resilience
Charlotte’s journey hasn’t come without challenges. From dislocating her elbow mid-race at the Mount Everest Marathon to managing shift work as an Emergency Department nurse, she knows how to embrace adversity and keep moving forward. Balance is key, as mixing running with skiing, hiking and coffee walks with friends keeps her motivated and grounded. For Charlotte, pulling on the silver fern singlet is a dream come true. A true symbol of resilience, gratitude, and the joy of chasing limits on the trails.
